Want to enhance your leadership skills? Improvement begins with an understanding of your natural approach towards leadership. In this engaging three-hour session, we will guide you through an exploration of various leadership approaches, examining the unique strengths and potential challenges associated with each. Together, we’ll also uncover the contexts in which each approach is most effective, empowering you to adapt and lead with intention.
Through a combination of interactive discussions and self-reflection, you’ll have the opportunity to identify your personal leadership approach. This understanding will broaden your leadership toolkit, allowing you to integrate complementary approaches into your people management and decision-making.
The workshop will be held in Charlottetown on January 31, 2025 from 9:00am – 12:00pm.

Session Facilitators
Michelle MacDonald has been in leadership roles for forty years, starting with student council in high school. She is an entrepreneur and strategist at heart. She has been Chief of Staff to a federal Cabinet Minister, Executive Director of national and international non-profit organizations, an instructor at Holland College and a small retail business owner. In all she does, Michelle is passionate about growing leadership capacity. Michelle has been a facilitator and trainer for over 20 years on topics such as leadership, adult learning and board governance.
Denise Stockley completed her Doctorate in the Psychology of Education at Simon Fraser University and joined Queen’s University in January 2001. She is a Professor and Scholar in Higher Education with the Office of the Provost (Teaching and Learning Portfolio) and the Faculty of Health Sciences. Her current research focuses on how we create environments that promote learning. She is studying the impact of national teaching awards, research ethics training, and growth mindset to name just a few of her projects. More recently, she co-edited a book with Julia Christensen Hughes and Joy Mighty called Taking Stock 2.0: Transforming Teaching and Learning in Higher Education. She is the Principal Investigator of several research grants in a variety of areas including those from the Tri-Council (SSHRC, NSERC, and CIHR) and from the Networks of Centre of Excellence (NCE) and Past-President of the Society for Teaching and Learning in Higher Education (STLHE).
